In general PECS is used with children who display no or limited functional or socially acceptable speech. Teachers in the school have been specifically trained in the use of PECS, and work closely with Speech and Language Therapists to implement programmes and improve communication skills.

The use of this system has been found to significantly reduce frustration and improve negative and disruptive behaviours, especially in many of our younger children.
